This Open House is for the Doctorate in Educational Leadership cohort starting in 2018, in Suffolk. It is open to School Leaders living in Long Island. Dr. Marlene Zakierski will present the program and field all of your questions.
What are some Program Details?
The Ed.D. program is an intensive 42-credit program including core coursework, an experiential component, and doctoral research into problems of practice. The program is cohort-based; a group of 15 to 20 students will be accepted and proceed through the program together. The cohort is open to CSA members in NYC, or non-CSA members (who must be current school administrators) in Suffolk.
Cohort 1 just graduated. Read about their group here.
The program will be delivered through weekend courses, summer residencies, online components and interaction with state and national experts. The program is book-ended with reflective weekend sessions engaging the individual as leader and building the cohort community. On-campus sessions will be held on the Albany campus.
So why choose Sage’s program?
Our program is much more affordable than other weekend hybrid programs. We charge only $1025 per credit for non-CSA students on Long Island; we only require 42 credits, since you already have your SBL certification. Total cost is less than $43,050 for non-CSA, compared to $60,000 or more for a similar program.
The program emphasizes both vision and skill development
— because we think you need both to successfully grapple with the changing world of K-12 education. Big changes are coming to K-12 education. Schools and school districts are going to have a choice of being pro-active or having changes forced upon them. We work together so you have the tools to be in charge of the changes that are coming.
We structure the program for your success.
— Doctoral programs aren’t easy. Fewer than 50% of all students successfully complete doctoral programs. We address this by assigning you an advisor immediately upon entrance and structuring the program so that you do a fair amount of the dissertation during your course work. We don’t want you to start unless we both are confident of your ability to do the work and complete the program. We’ll help you every step of the way.
