Position Summary:
P.S. 205 is seeking a dynamic, licensed, students with disabilities (Birth-Grade 2, 1-6, or K-12) classroom teacher. This is an anticipated vacancy for the 2024-2025 school year, subject to available funding. This person will implement and educate students using NYS Next Generation Learning Standards and core curriculum programs, while using specially designed instruction and successful research-based practices for students with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
● Prepare lesson plans with clear and measurable objectives and appropriate techniques, to serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
● Work collegially with grade teams, support staff, coaches, and administrators to plan and implement high quality instruction, including the integration of technology
● Implement classroom and individual student behavior strategies to maintain a positive, advantageous learning environment
● Effectively communicate with students, help them develop positive self-concepts, and facilitate independence as a learner
● Create student goals, track progress, analyze data, and share information through various digital tracking systems
● Input student grades into the online report card system and meet with parents to discuss student progress
● Develop and implement student’s Individualized Educational Plans (IEP)
● Effectively organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction
● Demonstrate an awareness and respect for diversity of cultural backgrounds and lifestyles
● Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development provided by the
Department of Education and/or in self- selected professional growth activities
